Who can use the pantry?
University of Virginia students, graduate students, and staff members can use the pantry each week for their household. There are no other requirements to use the pantry, and any demographic data collection the pantry performs is optional.
Where is the pantry?
The UVA Community Food Pantry is located in the Student Activities Center on the 1st floor of Newcomb Hall room 144. The pantry is open to all students and staff during the SAC’s hours. To get to the pantry, enter the SAC and follow the hallway past the information desk. The pantry will be to your left, with a marked door.
How can I support the pantry?
UVA students can volunteer their time to the running of the pantry. Those interested in volunteering with the pantry can email the pantry directly at pantryatuva@gmail.com.
UVA community members can donate food during our regular hours of operation. CIOs, community organizations, and academic departments can host food drives. Those interested in donating or hosting a food drive can email the pantry directly at pantryatuva@gmail.com.

Does food insecurity exist at UVA?
One in four students have reported experiencing food insecurity at UVA. In health assessment surveys conducted in 2019 and 2020, the UVA Office of Health Promotion found that between 24% and 33% of students experienced food insecurity within the past 30 days. Third Years and students who identify as LGBTQ+ experienced the highest rates within the sample.
